FRSL Annual General Meeting - September 10

It's that time of the year again where we are scheduled to have our Annual General Meeting. We realise there have been a number of AGM's recently for various other worthy causes, but we would like to take the time to invite you to the AGM for the Free Reformed Soccer League on the 10th of September in the Kelmscott Church Hall.

This year has seen a significant number of people from across our bond of churches participating and attending our weekly soccer events in Medina. We expect that many of you are interested in the runnings of the league and how we do things and so we hope some of you will take the time to attend this meeting. Opportunity will be given to ask questions of the Committee, to discuss various ideas, to discuss the budget and to give feedback to the Committee on the running of the season and areas we could improve.

It should be noted that the AGM is also a Player's Committee Meeting, which means that there will need to be at least one member from each of the Men's and Women's teams present to avoid incurring a point penalty.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Carnival 2014 Is Approaching

The Carnival Day is coming! 20th of September is the date for the annual carnival day for the FRSL. As usual, we have a few things we'd like to keep you informed about. We have a very exciting day in the works for you all to enjoy, but we'd like to invite your participation in this event.

We plan to keep you updated with information as it becomes available so stay tuned!

Lunch Kiosk Volunteers

The FRSL would like to run a BBQ lunch for all patrons at the carnival again this year, however to make this possible volunteers are required! If you are interested in helping out with the kiosk please consider that there are a variety of tasks that need to be done at different times, including setting up, deep-frying chips, cooking burgers and sausages, serving, topping up the trays, cleaning up, emptying bins etc. If you are willing to help out please let us know what time you are available and what your preferred function would be, (e.g. setup/cook/serve customers/fill trays/clean up). Once we have your response we will make a schedule and forward it to you before the soccer carnival. Please forward your responses to cameron.schoof.com.

Stall Holders

As per previous years, the FRSL would like to invite anyone who would like to run a stall on carnival day to participate this year. As usual, any stall that is for a not-for-profit organisation will not be charged a site fee. All other stalls will incur a $50.00 fee. Download the Expression of Interest Form and return it to us to register your stall.

Position Vacant: Treasurer

Our treasurer has given her indication that she is going to retire from her at the end of the season. Therefore, the FRSL is seeking expressions of interest from persons suitable to fill this role, with the role beginning next year.

It will be difficult for the FRSL to operate without this position filled. So if you're interested in joining the Committee and also having the opportunity for direct input into your League, please contact us. We will be happy to provide you with more information on the duties and requirements of the role.

If you're interested in applying, please contact us via email at soccer.committee@frca.org.au. In your email you should detail any financial experience you may have.

We look forward to receiving your application.

Pool Player Proposal

Since the beginning of the season, there have been a number of unforeseen circumstances challenging the league, including things like player injury. Many teams throughout the men's and even women's leagues have had to field under strength teams because their players have not been able to play for a variety of reasons. This issue is compounded by an unusually low pool player register this season, particularly in the men's league. In order to help boost weakened team strength, the FRSL Committee would like to offer a season-long deal for pool players. We do stress that this is a unique situation and this proposal is a reaction to it, not something we wish to make normal.

We propose the following:

  • If you're a current pool player, regardless of how many games you've already played or have left of your current payment, if you've paid the fee of once, you'll be allowed to play for the remainder of the season for no additional charge.
  • If you're not a signed up player (and eligible to play in either men's or women's leagues), we invite you to register, pay an up front fee of , and continue to play an unlimited number of games for the remainder of the season.

If you wish to sign up, please register with the committee via email or follow instructions on the website.

The committee is endeavouring to avoid a similar situation as has transpired this season, and we'll be looking at ways to improve the competitiveness of the teams next season.

We appreciate your patience and support as we attempt to improve the experience of players in the remainder of the season.
